Betty Jackson
Elizabeth "Betty" Jackson, 78, a resident of Russellville, passed into Jesus’ presence on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Saint Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock.
She was born July 31, 1929, at Philadelphia, Pa., to Jay Harold and Viola Marie Wilde Walton.
She graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas, and taught elementary education for 15 years. After retirement, she was an active Bible study fellowship discussion leader for more than 20 years and taught Sunday School throughout her adult life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Janet Ambler.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Earl Jackson; her children, Barbara Jackson, Bruce Jackson, Patricia Franklin, and Gale Vanooyen; a brother, Bob Walton; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Monday at the First Baptist Church at Russellville with the Rev. Greg Sykes officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Scott Holcomb, Peter Holcomb, Robert Vanooyen, Josh Jackson, Glenn Franklin, and Glenn Richards.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the health care team at the Saint Vincent’s Hospital in her brief illness.
