Sain’s Country Convenience will hold its grand opening Friday, August 5. Johnny and Christine Sain bought the business and re-opened the doors on April 2, 2005. They have made many improvements and plans are to continue building up the business.

Located at 7056 Market Street in Dover, the convenience store offers many different services to the people it serves. Customers can buy gasoline, a meal or even fishing bait. The Sains strive to treat each customer with a friendly greeting and provide a down-home atmosphere in which they can shop.

The Sains say that their goal is to keep their gas prices as low as possible, providing the best service they can for their customers.

Sain’s has the only hand-dipped ice cream in Pope County. They have from 12 to 18 flavors to choose from and will soon carry Guilt Free, for those wanting a sugar-free treat. A new addition in the ice cream line is the Sain Hurricane. This specialty drink will include your ice cream blended with your choice of candy. During the grand opening, customers who purchase a Sain’s Hurricane will receive a free single scoop of vanilla. Also anyone purchasing a waffle cone will receive a free single scoop of vanilla.

Hot food items include popcorn chicken and shrimp baskets. On Wednesdays the special is catfish and Thursday is barbeque day. Breakfast foods include biscuits, along with chocolate gravy on Tuesdays and Fridays, and breakfast crispitos. During the cooler months customers can enjoy homemade chili, beans and cornbread and stew. Sausage gravy will also be back on the menu.

Sain’s continues to carry a full line of outdoor supplies,including licenses and is a deer and turkey check-in location. Hunters and fishermen can shop for their tackle and gear at Sain’s. They carry the hard-to-find Gilmore lures, along with minnows, red wiggler worms, night crawlers, frozen cut shad, frozen turkey, frozen shrimp and chicken hearts.

Johnny and Christine would like to thank all their customers for their support over the past couple of months and to let them know how very much they are appreciated.

The community is invited to stop by Friday, August 5, for free popcorn and small drinks beginning at noon. There will be specials throughout the day, including games for kids and a live radio remote from 4 to 6 p.m. with KCJC. Drawings will be held during the remote for the following items: Men’s 18 speed Dasani Bicycle-provided by Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper Electric Scooter – provided by Dr. Pepper, Spider Man Skateboard – provided by Coca-Cola, DVD player-provided by US Foodservice, Petit Jean Ham, provided by Petit Jean Meats, one oil change, provided by Cogswell Motors. On Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday Sains will give away $25 gas certificates. These will be provided by Sain’s and Hess Oil Company.

In-store grand-opening specials include 12 pack Dr. Peppers for $3.99. The business is open Monday through Friday from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
