Johnson hired as Lady Devil coach

Chance Johnson recently made his return to Atkins when he was hired as head coach of the Atkins Lady Red Devils basketball team. Johnson got his start in Atkins nine years ago when he taught physical education and assisted in basketball. Johnson replaces Len Harris, who recently made the move to Perryville to coach boy’s basketball.

Johnson spent the last two years at Harrison where in his first year he led his team to the Class AAAA state championship game. His record at Harrison was 37-22. Before Harrison, there was Morrilton, where he served as an assistant on the high school coaching staff as well as head junior high coach.

Atkins will join the 4AAA Conference this season.
