Apaches roll over Glen Rose in conference game

The Pottsville Apaches took over in the second quarter and rolled past Glen Rose, 61-33, Friday (2-1) in a 3A-5 conference game at Pottsville.

Glen Rose led 18-12 at the end of the first quarter before Pottsville took control and forged into a 25-21 lead at the half. The Apaches extended the lead to 10 points after three quarters of play, 39-29, and then outscored Glen Rose 22-4 in the final quarter.

Eric Tracy had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Aaron Chenowith had 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, Jimmy Freeman had 9 points and 6 rebounds and Will Rush had 8 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal to lead the Apaches.

Glen Rose defeats Lady Apaches in overtime

Pottsville's Lady Apaches (11-7, 8-5) fell to Glen Rose in overtime, 57-54, Friday (2-1) in a 3A-5 conference game at Pottsville.

Pottsville trailed 10-9 at the end of the first quarter but rallied to take a 6-point half-time lead, 23-17. Glen Rose closed to within 2 points at the end of three quarters of play, 35-33, before tying the game, 47-47 at the end of regulation. Glen Rose outscored Pottsville 10-7 in the overtime period to escape with a 3-point win, 57-54.

Britney Nealy had 21 points, Haley Robertson had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals, Tricia McCabe had 6 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals and Whitney Winters had 5 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Lady Apaches.

Jr. Lady Apaches clinch conference championship

Pottsville's Jr. Lady Apaches (16-2, 7-1) clinched the 3A-5 conference championship with a 40-36 victory over the Bauxite Jr. Lady Miners, Tuesday (1-29) at Pottsville.

Pottsville trailed the Jr. Lady Miners 8-7 at the end of the first quarter but came back to tie the game, 16-16, at the half-time break. Bauxite regained the lead, 30-25, after three quarters of play before the Jr. Lady Apaches rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bauxite 15-6, to claim the game and the conference championship, 40-36.

Tracy Cole had 16 points, Michaela Talley had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals, Jessi Smith had 6 points and Victoria Huie had 5 points to lead the Jr. Lady Apaches.

Pottsville no match for Miners

Pottsville's Apaches (11-7, 9-5) fell behind early and lost to the Bauxite Miners, 76-51, Monday (2-4) in a 3A-5 conference game at Pottsville.

Bauxite broke out on top, 20-9, at the end of the first quarter and never trailed. The Miners extended the lead to 42-23 at the half and 68-36 after three quarters of play. Pottsville outscored the Miners 15-8 in the final quarter, cutting the final margin to 76-51.

Eric Tracy had 20 points and 8 rebounds, Aaron Chenowith had 12 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block and Will Rush had 7 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Apaches.

Lady Apaches hold off Bauxite

Pottsville's Lady Apaches (12-7, 9-5) broke away from a tie at the end of the third quarter and defeated the Bauxite Lady Miners, 53-47, Monday (2-4) in a 3A-5 conference game at Pottsville.

Bauxite took a 16-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended the margin to 28-24 at the half. Pottsville rallied in the third quarter, tying the game 36-36, and then pulled away in the final quarter, outscoring Bauxite 17-11, to win 53-47. Tricia McCabe had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Whitney Winters had 11 points and 8 rebounds and Danni Alexander had 8 points and 3 steals to lead the Lady Apaches.
